Kayla Miller was born is upstate New York where she began her dancing at the age of 5 at New Paltz School of Ballet. She trained under the direction of Lisa and Peter Naumann, previous company members of the New York City Ballet. She continued to study ballet, pointe, and jazz after moving down to Sarasota, FL. Kayla trained at Florida Ballet Arts Academy with MaryElizabeth Mock and was part of their pre-professional company.
Kayla then attended the University of Florida and joined a student-run dance organization on campus called Extreme Dance Company. From 2009-2012, Kayla was able to choreograph ballet, jazz, contemporary, and musical theatre for Extreme’s semi-annual productions. She became the president of Extreme her senior year of college and graduated from the University of Florida in 2012 with a BS in Parks Recreation and Tourism and a Minor is Business. Kayla joined the Danscompany of Gainesville after graduation under the direction of Nina Cameron and performed in Cinderella, their holiday tradition.
Kayla has performed as the Marzipan and Spanish Soloist in The Nutcracker, as well as, the Four Little Swans in Swan Lake and a Soloist in Don Quijote. In addition, Kayla performed in various soloist roles in Paquita and as the Mock Turtle in Alice in Wonderland. Kayla has been a company member of Tampa Ballet Theatre since January 2014 and is thrilled to continue her love for dancing.
