“I chose to stage Alice in Wonderland to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll’s book,” states Artistic Director of Tampa Ballet Theatre, “I want to tell the story it how it was meant to be told, with every mad little detail.”

Tampa Ballet Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland is based off of Lewis Carroll’s novel written in 1865. It is a 2 Act ballet that follows a young girl named Alice who falls asleep by the riverbank with her sister; she then is startled by a White Rabbit and follows it down a rabbit hole to Wonderland. Once in Wonderland, Alice finds herself in a nonsensical world where she encounters many mad creatures, including: The Cheshire Cat, The Caterpillar, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, and more. It is not untill the Queen of Hearts orders that her head be cut off, that Alice awakens from her dream and finds herself back by the riverbank with her sister.

“It takes a lot to make a ballet come to life,” states Clark, “call me mad, but with the support of the community I can make Alice in Wonderland a reality.”
